Above the Din
Dining out for a short break
Sometimes we go to a restaurant
That's very loud to converse
The waiter bends, asks what we want
We order without being terse
The food is simple, burgers and such
Stuff that goes well with a beer
We speak casually, but not much
Minor problem, it's hard to hear
Still, it's nice to see folks dining out
During a time when money is tight
Every now and then, I turn about
It's summer, the sky outside, still light
We work odd hours, so we relish this
A few hours to unwind, not far away
Diversions like these we don't like to miss
Need that recharge to work another day
