A Place to Hang My Hat

A modern love sonnet

You give me a place to hang my hat
A safe harbor from the chaos
Your arms receive me with éclat
Your neck awaits, I lean my head across

Caressing fingers and your shiny tresses
Brush against my weary cheek
My love for you my heart confesses
I'm pleased there is no need to speak

Soul-mate is an apt description
For what we are to one another
You would be my prescription
I'd search for you and choose no other

When we are apart, the bond is still
If I've a void inside, you're there to fill
