A Crown upon Thy Head

A love sonnet

I place a crown upon thy head
Thy curls cascade about thy nape
The sun glints on thy locks with red
A halo thee encircles and I gape

I have made for thee a garland
Of grape leaves and primrose
Wear about thy neck, sweet band
Thy fragrance honey, my love grows

I anoint thy feet so they be smooth
With finest oil just pressed this morn
Thou fair maiden, lovelier forsooth
None better for my soul has e'er been born

Into thine eyes, I look and am serene
A crown upon thy head, thou art my queen
