She's a Gem
She's a gem, my daring, darling girl
Multifaceted, lovely, radiant, true
As beautiful as any diamond or pearl
Jet black hair; eyes of crystal blue
She's sharp, intense, savvy, wise
Able to see the merits of both sides
There's honest reflection in her eyes
Ferreting recesses where truth hides
She's tough yet tender when needs be
Asserting herself on false accusation
Clara Barton tending my skinned knee
Breathing deep to allay frustration
She's a gem; that's not a label trite
'Tis good she's mine to love and cherish
We play, laugh; discuss our plight
I pray our heart on heart not perish
