Birds on a Live Wire

Looking at the birds sitting on the power lines

I noticed how the flocks perch
On live wires everywhere
Facing the same direction
Safe between the towers
By the hundreds at times they sit
On these man-made resting spots
Not grounded, so no shocks
A way-station on their journey
Should the winds come up
Or a storm approach
They may take off
For their unknown shelters
Let's pat ourselves on the back
For giving these avians
A respite
Across the great treeless expanse
