Sight of Wondrous Beauty
About the bats of the Congress Street Bridge in Austin, Texas
Sight of wondrous beauty
Black wings fluttering by thousands
Looking for the insect booty
Up the river to the feed lands
People watching from the bridge
As the hordes fly out this night
People on the river ridge
See beating wings take to flight
Exit they from their slit abodes
From underneath the Bridge on Congress
They travel on sky ribbons, not roads
Their numbers we can only guess
Smell of bat heavy in the air
Unpleasant, yes, but not excessive
Sonar leading to dinner fare
Tomorrow another show to give
