I Feel Like an Inventor
On the Creativity of Poets
I feel like an inventor
Without a mentor
Like a creator
And not a spectator
With words as the raw
Material, the ice I thaw
I shape and mold
So a story may be told
From the wee bits of
Ideas come words of love
And an idea takes shape
From which there's no escape
I transpose a verb and noun
Till I get what I need down
And read from the start
Till it moves my heart
And visions of success
Float in the recesses
Of my head, and I know
That I've got it, so
Another case is made
With the foundation laid
That the sum is greater
than its parts; 'Til later!
