On Shakespeare
About william shakespeare, his writings and legacy
Shakespeare is often quoteth
His poetry and prose superb
In comedy and drama both
His pen doth well with turn of verb
The Bard is taught at many a level
His theater works performed
Would he not be pleased, revel
To know he's kept us well informed
On Avon lovely English river
His folios, sonnets he did write
Did he surmise he'd be a giver
On many topics shed his light
Of unrequited love and labors lost
Of kings and queens and oceans tossed
Of misdirected and undaunted
Of scoundrels and the haunted
Oh William wherefore art thou?
In libraries and schools and books
On myriad stages, take thy bow
Thanks, you have us by the hooks
