Sitting in the Light
A poem on reflexions while sitting in candle light
Sitting in the light of the candles
Easing down from a difficult day
Glancing sideways, Grecian urn with handles
Acquired during a long getaway
Reflecting quietly, watching the flicker
Sipping glasses of French cabernet
Lounging on these seats of rattan (or wicker?)
I muse on going to bed, but want to stay
The moon rises, competing with the flame
An owl cries in the semi-dark
Making ready for his night game
Coyote howls, definitely not a dog's bark
Sitting still, drinking in the night
Too dark to read, but listening is keen
A piece of dark chocolate savored, just right
Closing eyes, at peace for now, serene
